About Teresa M. Ablao
 
 Teresa earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology/Political Science from Western Michigan University in 1984.  She came to Boulder, Colorado for law school, fell in love with all that Colorado had to offer and stayed.  She received a Juris Doctorate from University of Colorado in 1988 and was admitted to the bar that same year.  While in law school, Teresa worked as a student attorney representing civil clients for the Legal Aid Clinic and as a student prosecutor for Boulder DA's office. 
 
Upon graduation, Teresa worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Richard McLean in Boulder District Court.  She thereafter worked as a deputy district attorney for 5 years in the 8th Judicial District  DA's office under Stuart VanMeveren, prosecuting traffic violations, misdemeanors and felonies as well as appeals, civil forfeitures and DMV appeals.
 
In 1994, Teresa was hired by the City of Fort Collins as an assistant City attorney.  She served the City for over 15 years as Municipal Court prosecutor and legal advisor for Police Services, Poudre Fire Authority, the Liquor Licensing Authority and Neighborhood Services. Over the years her duties included eminent domain litigation, liquor licensing, nuisance, building and rental housing code enforcement, civil litigation, appeals, drafting ordinances and intergovernmental agreements.
 
Teresa is also the town of Wellington Municipal Court Judge, associate Judge for the town of Windsor and Hearing Officer for  Commerce City.   She is a member of the Colorado Municipal Judges Association, Larimer County Women's Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, and the Larimer County Bar Association. 
 
Teresa is a past president of the board of directors, and ardent supporter of ChildSafe, Inc. , a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services for victims of child sexual abuse and their families.  She is on the board of directors of the Thompson Valley Preschool in Loveland and on the Laramie River Valley Rendezvous board of directors, another non-profit whose mission is to provide positive interaction between youth and law enforcement through an annual week-long camp experience for at-risk youth.  She is an executive committee member of the 8th Judicial District Senate Bill-94 Juvenile Services Planning Commission.
 
Her free time is spent enjoying family and friends, rock climbing, snowboarding, kayaking, camping, hiking, gardening, theater and dance performances, cooking, reading and sewing.
